I Felt Strongly Connected With These....

I would love to have this gift.
Aren't they lovely?

Ali J (Alicia Rosam) was born in Adelaide in April 1982.

She was raised in Perth, Australia alongside two brothers by her mother and father who worked for the Royal Australian Air Force.

She spent most of her childhood reading books up in trees, spending time with her pet rabbit and generally enjoying the country life.

In 1999 Ali graduated high school and then studied at college attaining a Certificate in Interior Decoration in 2000 and a Diploma of Fine Art in 2002.

After her studies Ali chose to take her life into a different direction and experience other opportunities.

Then in May 2007 a chance encounter led her to start drawing once more and consider a career in illustration.

Ali thinks of herself as an illustrator for the new generation and is considered to be one of Australia’s rising underground talents.

Her works are whimsical, dreamy and invoke the imagination whilst telling a story.

Her favourite subject matter is female portraiture with a modern twist.

Her aim is to create familiar relatable figures that remind us of someone we know.

Each character has a strong sense of independence, connects with the viewer in some way and has a high sense of fashion living within the modern day world.

The works are created through a variety of techniques including the use of a modern colour palette, paint, ink and paper collage.

Ali spends her time painting in a big house surrounded by her pets and her imagination.

Her attention to detail, high standards, ability to meet her client’s needs and still hold integrity within her work will ensure that she continues to establish herself as one of the upcoming new talents to Australian illustration.
